Mulgandha Kuti: Where Buddha stayed

This is Mulgandh Kuti Vihar, basicaly a monastery built in 193, by Angarika Dharampal, the founder of Mahabodhisatva soceity and still maintained by the soceity

Brimming in history and spirituality, this Indo Japanese architecture 

was built to commemorate the original Mulagandha Kuti Vihar located in the Archaeological Remains of Sarnath.

The sanctum houses a golden statue of the Buddha on a marble platform. Along with that, the temple also has the relic of Lord Buddha

Mulgandha vihra is third most sacred viharas of Buddhist relegion. Monks and desciples from all over the world visit this temple

The interiors walls are completely dominated by frescoes depicting scenes from Buddha's life and are made by Japanese artist Kosetsu Nosu in 1936.

A huge bronze   bell was presented and installed by scions of Royal family of Japan, in the Bodhi Tree courtyard next to the Mulagandhakuti Vihara.

It is craved with Buddhist texts and it is said that its sound is heard up to 7 kilometers away.

A prayer wheel filled with various mantras, sacred Buddhist symbols, and sutras is used to help the practitioner cultivate wisdom and compassion, make progress on their spiritual path

Lord Buddha is seen sitting on a platform here giving his first sermon to his disciples.

The area around Sarnath is famous for hand loom industry,

Moolgandh Vihar and monastery plays an effective role in making his work accessible to the visitors.

Lord Buddha used to stay at this place during his stay in Sarnath, hence Moolgandh kuti was built here.
