ALAKNANDA

At 13 2 00 fit above sea level a 30 km long and 4 km wide, Gangotri glacier is situated in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, India the origin of the most pious river Bhagirathi.

From Keshav Prayag, Alaknanda along with Saraswati river proceeds on its journey through Badrinath valley [holy pilgrimage of Hindus]. This is the place where Saraswati river is visible

Taking Saraswati with her, Alaknanda proceeds on her journey through the Badrinath valley [the holy pilgrimage site of Hindus].

Flowing down the Badrinath valley, the Alaknada reaches at the first of its journey, Vishnu Prayag where it confluences with the Dhauli Ganga.

The next Prayag is Nand Prayag situated at an altitude of 870 meters where the Nandakini river, traveling 105 kilometers from its origin, meets with the Alaknanda.

At karn prayag river Pinder which oiginates from Pindari glacier, confluences with Alaknanda

Rudra prayag situated at an altitude of 690 meters is the place where mandakini river confluences with the Alaknanda,,

Dev Prayag, situated at an altitude of 830 metres [2773 F], the calm and deep Alaknanda meets the Bhagirathi river coming with countless tales, myths, rapid current flow and deafening noise.
