Our topic is based on the evolution of Ganga, hence we have to start the journey from the source of Ganga which has been flowing continuously for about 50 million years from the mouth of Gaumukh, the Gangotri Glacier located at an altitude of 14200 feet in the Garhwal Himalayas.

We move about 5 kilometres down the Bhagirathi towards Gangotri and reach Bhojbasa situated at an altitude of 12385.17 feet

We see the water of Bhagirathi freezing drop by drop and turning into a glacier.

On the trek to Gomukh from Gangotri, at fourteenth kilometre comes Bhojwasa at an elevation of 3775 metres where you pass through a small jungle of Bhoj trees.
